So earlier today I went to a park right down the street from my house and found a 1788 mass common wealth cent I went back a few hours later and found a very small copper coin right next to where I found the first and this button that appears to have an eagle holding arrows. I don't think ill be able to identify the smaller one , unless anyone knows of very tiny copper coins.

Ok added pics of the small coin cleaned, (wouldn't of cleaned it but it was complete toast) this is the only side that shows any kind of detail and its hard to make out, looks like the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill with the detached point.

Also the back of the button, in going back to this place tomorrow and hitting it hard for 8 hours, literally found this stuff in a 10 ft radius along with square nails lotsss of square nails

Nice finds DanTheNewbie!

nice finds congrats HH

Personally, I don't think it's the type of metal that makes a find great....it's the date, origin and use of an item that makes it great. Very nice!

mass cent is on my wish list! very nice. the thing with a triangle is probley a AA sobriety chip. willy

Thanks everyone, my batteries are definitely recharged , I needed a good find I was getting discouraged haha. All this was found in a 10ft area in two 20 min trips, there's another 10 acres so I'm sure there's plenty more goodies to come.

:notworthy: Amazing find!! You done good, and yeah, I'd take that over silver any day!

Very Nice Mass Copper !!
That was the first state copper I found
Looks like a star on your small coin...
I posted a trime that looked like copper and it didn't get Ided for a week (salt recovery)
US silver 3C will be 13-14mm in that condition. Congrats & keep bringin home the goods :hello2:

GT yea literally right down the street in a park in a urban area. My first hunt of this year as well, I was really discouraged after last year I hunted almost every weekend and all I found was a heaping pile of garbage on mercury dime and a bottle (which was pretty cool). I hiked miles into the woods to find cellar holes and old chimney sites, I even took a canoe to an island in the Connecticut river because there was a camp there in the late 1800's haha nothing!!! Then I get lazy and I'm like ill just shoot silver at the park down the road and booooom!!! Babbbbby!!! Haha sorry.
Lots of iron in the area I almost didn't dig this cause it was bouncing from negative to positive 80-93 there was a square nail in the hole.

I think the area I'm on might of been the site of a house at one point, the park goes to this Main Street and there's houses lined up all the way up the road till the park then it stops.

As you can see in my very scientific diagram

Haha I was hunting in the very bottom right of the circled green area, there's houses lined up to the right for a mile then it just stops , I'm going to hit this area hard , I've literally only hit a fifty by fifty foot spot so far, heading back tomorrow am ill post my findings here

Be very careful about revealing site info. I had to learn the hard way many years ago. I could post the most innocuous picture of a field way out in the middle of nowhere and someone would recognize the spot and go out there and clean it out before I could get back, and without getting permission. There are a ton of site stealers and dishonest people out there, so unless you desire to have unwanteds show up there you should keep the info to yourself. Very nice copper BTW. And that navy button is from a modern blazer.

I'm not too worried about it, I can't hunt enough to work that whole area properly anyway plus I jump around. I have some secret cellar holes somewhere in ct I won't tell anyone about I'm hitting next month but this is a park, ill let anyone who wants to know where it's at.

I went back today for 4 hours and got nothing but clad and pull tabs haha

I think I'm going to start hitting more parks in urban areas, these places are surrounded by "ghetto" like surroundings but were once colonial settlements. I'm doing some research into more of new Britain ,CT and even Hartford CT . All the silver I found have been in parks and the two I've hit in new Britain seem, at least in the places I've been untouched. Large amounts of old clad and other targets everywhere.

Using a whites dfx, but it's acting buggy not IDing deep targets correctly and beginning to become very noisy
