New Member Looking for Pointers

I found this site by accident while looking for tips on cleaning some old bottles I got at a yard sale. I see all the posts about people finding all kinds of incredible stuff. I don't have a metal detector but I would be interested in going out and digging around in the woods to find old stuff. I live outside of Philadelphia and am looking for advice on how to know where to look.

welcome from maryland, please let me know about the bottle cleaning, we found a drain field full of old bottles and used straight bleach and a brush,it took forever!! You asked about tips , around here I hunt anything of value thats avalible ,bottles ,sharks teeth ,Native American artifacts with some sucess, the pirate treasure and spanish galleon are also here but I cant seem to locate or dig them , YET, persistence will win !! and that starts with reasearch, find the clue others have missed !!
