Hit new farm permissions with several sites and lots of finds but few of them really old (my interest is with 17th century stuff). One site produced some late colonial. Back along the creek I found what is likely the oldest item - a leather ornamental. Looks 1650-1750 to me. Got a piece of a solid silver spoon & what could be a very worn cut silver coin. Can't see anything on it tho. The best find was a new area of brick and shell as we were headed out. But we saved it without swinging at all and now hunters are everywhere. It will have to wait for the next Sunday when we can get out.

IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU MIGHT FIND SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT THE DANDY BUTTON.

haha Another one! :occasion14:

I think your potential "cut coin" is the end of your spoon. :)

Congrats on a great pile of relics and a very rare button button find. I see it, but I wont be the first to say it.
I recently saw Alberts GW book sell on ebay, I wanted to bid, but didn't want to pay $50 for it.
You better wear orange when you go back to that site.

Very cool buddy. Looks to be another great spot. Excited to see what you find on the return trip bud. Great button

Great finds, great pictures. Thanks for showing. Good luck, good hunting.

Nice assortment of finds. The indicators are there for an early site so hopefully that brick and shell spot will produce some 17th century relics and coins for you. Our dumb Virginia governor repealed the No Hunting on Sunday law so now we have to wait until January

Yeah. Meant to say I found a small chunk of black glass w/ deep iridescent colors in the newly discovered spot of brick n shell. So, it has potential. Its one hill in front of where the leather ornamental came from. So hopefully it is the source. These are vast fields and may likely take 2 or 3 more trips to correctly scout them out.

That's a great Heraldic Eagle GW button. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're on an old site there so keep hitting it bro

Yeap, the dandy has an 'Urn' on it.

Looks like its been in an urn. lol

It was folded in half on itself. When I opened it up, there was the eagle.

Nice digs GW.
Hope more will be revealed.

I see where you lived up to your namesake Gary - WTG on that button! And that leather ornament is definitely 17th century so you might be onto something.
