Hi guys

I thought I should intoduce myself. I have been on this site many times drooolinggg!

You guys are too cool or faking it!

I'm in southeast Missouri and have finally found my first and second arrowhead! YEAHHH!
I've found a lot of other stuff and have always thought I was dreaming but seeing stuff on this site has confirmed that I have found a lot of broken stuff, scrapers, drills, punches, etc. I live in a great site to find stuff. Everyone says it's all been found but I don't believe that. I have just figured out how to get brave and either knock on the door and ask permission or just jump in the creek.

I will have to figure out how to post pictures and let you give me your opinion of my finds. I just figured out that I can maybe post this message!! By the way I came to this site because I bought a used metal dectector for me and my son -- I love the metal detecting finds of the day . . . . . I also live in an area that is great for that . . . . . but I think my true love is walking a creek looking for arrowheads.

I came here also because I love to metal detect and live in a Civil War area. I then found this crazy artifact forum on here and have been back hunting ancient artifacts again. I have learned a lot from these guys. Welcome and we look forward to seeing what you have been finding.

Welcome!!! I also live in a CW area and was metal detecting. I stumbled upon my first arrowhead two years ago and have not metal detected since! haha. I am fully addicted and my dog and I get out almost daily, except when snow stops us. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your finds and watching you lose control over your own addiction soon. Don't fight it!!! Just roll with it hahaha.

Welcome to the site, mirmir. There are some remarkable finds posted here, and lots of helpful info. And here you will find some of the very best in the world authorities who are of the school of "I have been in the field, I have actually found one of them, I researched and ID'd it, I know what that was used for, and I can also make one!!" So they're great, and they're at your disposal. I lean more towards the what if and what would I use this for, but they tolerate me.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I wanted to pick this guy 8) and my son said that's too cool for me, (being on the internet) anyway . . . he wants me to go see the pictures. I think I can post my pictures (I think I figured it out!) Please give me your opinions. I'm waiting until tomorrow when I hope I can post my best find ever (after I find it)

When I put all my finds over the years together ,on the table , I can't believe I have been undecided on whether they were just a broken piece or not.

I watched a real cool show on Clovis Indians tonight.
I'm pretty sure I heard about it here first and actually was able to catch it on PBS. Very Interesting.
Some / and most of the creeks I've hunted around here have very deep, high banks that look almost like washouts- Some are broken black slate, some are more like clay, and some are mud, and some are mud with layers of rock that I can't stay away from. All basically rock bottom. There are other creeks that I have seen on old maps that are shallow and overgrown and in my opinion have been dried out to make ponds. I haven't walked those weeds! I'm wondering now after watching the show - what layer am I seeing? (if that makes sense) And of course most of all where is the better place to hunt.

Welcome mirmir,
my parents hometown was in NE AR, (Piggott, & then later in campbell MO) & they have told me about a lot of CW artifacts in that area (the battle of Chalk bluff was on the family land, they moved from the area before i was born ) & my mom has told me of an aunt who had quite a collection of native American artifacts from that area, so they are around!
