Hi all!

Finally got out this weekend. Dug my personal best: 101 coins including 5 wheats, a priceless shamrock set with jewels (a.k.a. silver-plated base-metal with rhinestone chips), and what I hope is a really old brass buckle.

The buckle is what I need info on. I found it 14 whopping inches down, in an area (Long Island, NY) that was woods for as far back as satellite images show. It had this really cool cloth/strap material wound tightly around the middle part, but I flaked it away with my thumb (thought it was dirt). It looked almost mesh-like. You can still see the pattern in the 2nd picture, embossed on the brass.

I finally broke down and ordered the Buckle Book, which should be here in a week. Until then, anyone know what this was used for? Is it a shoulder strap buckle? Military? It just love how deep it was, singing beautifully yet faintly to me as a semi-repeating high-tone on the Nox800.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Nice pile of coins! I believe tha buckle is a 20th century military belt adjuster.
Disclaimer: I'm no expert of 20th century militaria :laughing7:

MAKE AMERICA RICH AGAIN!

Every time I dig a pile of coins I like to think I'm injecting money directly into the economy! Then I think I'm probably just making inflation go up by .0000000000000000001%.

Either way, after a soapy tumble you'll be seeing these coins back in circulation again. Who knows? You might get them next.

Excellent work Claddy!!
