Hi guys

Nothing really special here but thought I,d share todays finds.

The Nova Scotia Militia button is the best thing ... but bad shape. Rick and Romeo both have found 1 but in much better shape.

They date to the 1850,s ...... and a few musket balls / old worn out coin makes me believe it is a old site.

Could the tube be a whistle ?

And the knob would be from what...2nd one i found this summer...many miles apart.

Nice group of finds there Aqua, your knob is an OX Knob. They were put on the horns, trust me you well find many more of those. I really like the whistle that's a very cool find.

Thought it was odd to find the exact same thing 20 miles apart.

I,ve found prolly 100+ ox shoes...they are everywhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i guess i,ll be finding more OX KNOBS !!!

Aqua seems that the OX Knobs are quite common I put one of mine to the wire wheel and boy did it come up nice. If you have access to one I would give it a go, sure makes them look nice.

Not sure .... but the notch in it sure makes it look like one.

Tried blowing threw it--both directions...nothing... unless there is a special way it is done.... any ideas ZDD ?

Whistles like that require a fair amount of air pressure and may require compressed air to make it function.
Your Ox Knob is made of brass and shines up nice.

The things in the last photo are scythe handle ferrules. I started to wonder too when I was finding them in different sites. They were obviously lost during farming.

Here is where I posted them to get ID'ed. Took many, many replies to get that one solved.

I'd guess rare in the sense that it would be hard to find them to buy.... but not in the sense that if you did find one for sale, even a nice one, it would not be very expensive.
