A friend and I hit an old site (1850s) and like so many times before, found an even older site that no one knew existed. We were only at the oldest spot for a total of 20 minutes before we had to split, but got some nice keepers! A couple of tombac buttons, ball button, weird 2 piece button, roached Indian head penny, George III counterfeit, musket trigger guard end piece and the creme a la creme, a rev war navy coat button

Good stuff. Time to go back.

Nice...i love sites like that...you never know what will come out of the ground. That's a great button...i've been lucky to pick up three at two different sites.

Great finds RelicMedic. Thanks for sharing...

Thank you. This is the first Navy button I've dug that has the chain around the anchor, rather than the rope. These ones aren't as common, so it's a welcomed find!

I just checked...my three are all ropes...guess I've got to get back out there and find a chain!

Beauty...many different varieties...congrats...

Yes there are. Of course I had to send a pic to IronPatch for his input. He said these ones don't come up often, with the chain and anchor and it being a coat button

Buddy, that Navy coat is fantastic! Love seeing history come out of the ground. Well done!

Thanks brother! Heading back there for a full day hunt on Friday

Great hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice hunt and sweet button!

Good find, but I'd bet my chained anchor Navy (ok I wouldn't) That there is something better there! Navy is cool, but there has to be a local or Rev war button close!

I'm sure there is. I walked over several button signals because time was limited and I had dug shotgun shell casings. When we go back on Friday, we have this site plus 4 others just like it to try out. The site from this hunt was undocumented and the land owner had no idea it existed. Unfortunately, he dug a hole and is getting ready to pour the foundation to his new house in the front yard of this site. I can't help but wonder what has been lost and buried when he did the excavation.

Lol yep. It's kind if a wooded area. Acres or old apple orchard. I know exactly where the signals were, so it's no problem getting the coil over them again.

Cleaned up and waxed
