New Spot. Not a bad start. (Early to Mid 1800's site)

I got permission for a farm over the winter. The same farmer owns some other property in the area. I had a look on my mid 1800's map to see if anyone was around on his other terrain, and lo and behold, there was at least 3 homesteads back there.

I went to check it out, and found the foundations on the first property with ease. There are fields everywhere, and orchards, but... with no one farming it, I don't have much time. Soon enough, it will be a jungle. I need to get back out there and find one of those elusive silver coins. :)

Four Toasted Coppers - Two New Brunswick Cents, and a couple of Unknown Half Pennies, I'm assuming.

Half a Crotal Bell - It's a bigger one.

I haven't dug a Buckle like this before. Horse Tack? Or, was there something fancy attached to that pin at one time?

This one looks like it was attached to a strap. Horse Stuff again? I forget what they are, but I've dug them before.... Help me out, guys. :laughing7:

Minard's Linament Bottle - The hawk eyes saw the butt end sticking out of some moss. It's late 1800's Pain Cream, created in the area by a wacky doctor.

Great finds Greek! Thanks for sharing...

:hello:

Quite a busy day, crotal bells usually avoid my spade I rarely find them :icon_scratch:

Your item in the fifth picture is a double looped copper-alloy harness fitting of a type commonly known as 'Roger rings'. The smaller loop is for attachment, and the larger loop is a rein guide. The latter is designed to allow the free passage of any buckles on the reins.

Thanks for the lesson, SS! :) That's why this site is awesome. It's not often that something doesn't get an ID.

Good hunting...I've got a barn full of those Minard's bottles...more common over here.

Very good start Greek ! Hopefully you will hit a sweet spot with a silver or two ! That first buckle piece is strange ! Good luck out there ! MR

Looks like great potential there Gio! I'm sure you'll pop out a couple good silvers this year!
