So I’ve been away for a few weeks in Indiana and Ohio, and watching three grandkids. I had high hopes for the spots that I was going to detect in Indiana. Two 1800’s farm properties and a small 1800’s church. Not one silver to be had. It was a very soft dark black soil almost like peat moss. I was digging modern clad at 6-7” deep. All I could come up with was the older coins were a lot deeper?
Two of the spots I was told they had been detected for years. 😭
One of the farmhouses turned up the stuff you see posted here including:
-Horse related items including a first for me, an odd horseshoe.
- Pocket watch
-A large brass “T” item. Possibly an electrical part from a tractor?
-A brass buckle. Any ideas what it would be from. Human? Horse? Age?
-A 1974 Hotwheels tank
-Toy top
-A couple of large round tags (?)
-An of all things a sea shell.
-A round tapered what’s-it piece with holes in it. Any ideas?

Nothing too exciting. Just happy to be back home in NC. 👍

Thanks for looking,
MM

Thanks Pepper. That explains it.
I was going to give it to my wife for Valentine’s Day but I missed it. It kind of looks like a ❤️.
🤪
How’s the digging been up your way?
We had snow in northern Ohio. It was nice to get back home to some sunshine.

I like the spinning top
I remember playing with those as a kid. Cheap entertainment like marbles and army men. That was the pre-gaming era kids. 😀

Nice! I think the iron thing in the upper left of the group photo is part of a “single tree” for horse drawn plows, etc. it’s the part that connects the wooden part of the yoke to a hook or ring
(Like this internet photo.)

Thank you. I love that old horse /farm related stuff too. Quality stuff.
It’s always amazed me how they cleared fields of trees and rocks without power equipment.

I greatly appreciate that, but we went up to watch our three grandkids (4yr, 2yr, 6mo.) while the parents were in Florida for a wedding. It was just my wife and I and we could have used four more of us to take care of those youngsters. 😭
Maybe next time though. We will be going up quite often. They will be moving into their new house soon. It’s a 10 acre property and used to have horses too.
