New to detecting bought a used Teknetics its defective

Bought a delta 4000 used for 130 bucks.. The unit looks to be unused but the serial # says its 7 years old & the + button doesnt work .. Teknetics says they'll replace the electronics for $50 . The tech support didnt know if the repacement parts would be OEM. Or the newest technology.. anybody out there have any idea

Well, they sell new for $200, so if investing $50 more gets you a
like-new machine, you'll have an updated 7 year-old machine for $180.

Another option is to shelve it, and buy something along the lines of
the Nokta Simplex.
