It does not look like it is made of iron. Was it found in an area were other native American artifacts have been recovered?

How deep is the hole?
I thought I'd seen it mentioned this has a square hole ?

That would pretty much rule out ancient stone work.
A round hole like that could be made primitively, rather straightforward, ... but I've never seen one squared up like this.

Makes me think modern
Why a hole ? To attach or secure something ?
Why square ? To prevent pivoting ?

Let's say you wanted to mount a bird feeder on a rock, ... and wanted it to always face the window.
You make a square hole and use a square pole.
Whatever is mounted, won't pivot.

Odder, yet, might be the top ball of a stack of balls.
Not sure why the square hole, though.

If you think this sounds strange ... just google "garden balls".
It seems there's a vast undercurrent of mankind obsessed with this very subject.
They make them, stack them, paint them, ... and all sorts of amazing things.

I'm not saying yours is one them, but it would certainly fit right in with the group.

Very interesting Thanks. The hole is ~1/8" deep.

I can see this as perhaps being a sphere used in gardens. A modern type craft out in the middle of nowhere?

I failed to mention a late 1800's era log cabin (with some contents still inside) was raised that sat on the property. It was inhabited up until the late 1960's. We have been finding all kinds of glass from the period. Just yesterday I uncovered some old, what appears to be medicine bottles with the year date 1845 on the bottom with 7 and another 7 on each side of a symbol. Edit- My research into the glass has indicated it was made 7/1907.

Got the bug- Ordered a LRP to get more serious into our look at what else could be on the property.
