New to the forum: Liberty V Nickel 1889?

Hi All,

I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join after finding my first Liberty V Nickel, i think. Unfortunately, its in pretty bad shape and i can barely make out 18 _ _, possibly 1889. I attached the pictures. Would you try to wash this and what would you use? I've been reading pros and cons and cant decide.

Does it have the "Cents" under the V? If not, it's an 1883. Otherwise, your pics just aren't good enough, sorry.
