Hey guys,

I dug this New Zealand Sixpence earlier today at an old church (odd right?) And I noticed that it had a marking on the top that looked almost like a connector to part of a necklace chain. I read that these coins are 50% silver, but this coin only weighed in at 2.0 grams so I was wondering if you all think it's an actual NZ six or a jewelry counterfeit? Any and all open on would be appreciated

Ben

If the item was fashioned into a piece of jewelry, I'd call it a replica.
I'd call it a counterfeit if the holder attempted to pass it off as authentic.
Either way, it being only 2.0 grams (versus the standard of 2.83 grams), it isn't authentic IMO.
Another check point is the diameter. The standard is 19.3 mm. What is your item's diameter?

Don,

Not sure of the diameter, but I will take your word for it being a replica as I found more information pointing in that direction. Thanks much!
