Thought I would share my first experience out and about.

First, I went to my bank and talked to my banker. Asked for pennies and nickels. Explained what I was doing. SHe was really nice. Stated that they didnt have any extras but would happily order anything I wanted. Gave me deadline to order and told me pick-up would be within 48 hours.

She also told me she would happily take all unrolled coin no charge. She forwards for count and my account will be credited in 48 hours. Since I'm not doing big money like you folks, I am not worried about an accurate count. I also promised I would find a bank with coin counter. She told me not to worry about it. Certainly was refreshing to have bank go out of the way for me.

Second Stop - No soup for you ! You dont have an account here.

Third Stop - Three awesome ladies. She explained that she couldn't order boxes for me as there is a fee, even with an account. She went on to say that she usually has 2 boxes of customer bring-ins in pennies and a 1/2 box of nickels at any given time. She said I could return and she would swap out anything I wanted. I explained that my bank was taking all rejects but I would happily return. She also let me dig through her halves. I scored a 64 and a 66 Kennedy. I am taking these ladies flowers for their kindness in spite of not being able to provide boxes. Still the skunks were OK.

Fourth Stop - Lady looked at me like I was a crack head and would surely pull a grenade out at any second. While she admitted to 20 brinks boxes of pennies and 10 boxes of nickels, she finally let me have a single box of pennies. You would have thought she just gave away her 1st born. Her evil eye gave clear notice that I better not return or I'd be sorry ! ;D

5th Stop will be awesome ! Ladies there were sweet. She said that they dont have boxes but get a ton of change from the elderly. TOld me to come back on Friday. Bank Manager authorized selling me all bags on machine. I about wet myself when she told me that an elderly woman brought in 4400.00 change. They sent it all out the day prior. I left in tears, but was ecstatic that they hold bags for me go-forward.

In the end I searched:

two or so open rolls halves
16 rolls of nickels
2 boxes pennies

My take was:

64 Kennedy
66 Kennedy

38 Jefferson
41 jefferson
45 S Jefferson
Lots of fill ins for sets.

10 wheaties nothing special. All 40's 50's.

Lots of copper.

Now the icing on all this is that one of the boxes were clearly MD finds ! Not only did I take a beating from them being searched prior, but they were all beat down Zincolns ! As an MD'er, I found this hysterical.

Anyway, I really enjoyed it.

Sent wifey out with a pocket full of cash this morning to beg a few boxes for me and 10 or so rolls of halves.

I'll let everyone know what shows.

These sound like Stepford Tellers !
Sounds like a nice town to CRH in. Jim

It's a small town so I am not sure if coins are really circulating in and out. Still, we have an againg population which may or may not help.

My lovely wife grabbed me a box of nickels and 2 boxes of pennies. Sealed Brinks. I'll jump on em after a little MD ing. It just rained which may bring some sweet silver. Found a Merc and Rosie dime so far. Got to be more there.

Yeah baby! My kinda day MD/CRH'ing. Good luck scoring boxes. If I spend half a day I can visit two differnt banks with 8 brances and usually get at least 4 boxes of dimes if I am looking. Not counting the rolls of halves. Hit or miss, depending on how much you might "short" them.
Too busy MDing as it's beautiful outdoors here in Michigan, getting crisp.
Good hunting.
