All Treasure Hunting
Hey there guys and girls, Dee here with a small introduction.

I'm a 23 year old from the East Coast of Canada, looking to get into treasure hunting.

I'll be honest, I was playing a video game the other day that was strongly based on treasure hunting and when I beat it, I got bored.
I jumped on Google and started reading up on real treasures and the people who find them, reading about Spanish wrecks, and people who find stuff in their back yards. I started to wonder why I never thought of doing this before. I'm intrigued, and it also gives me a good excuse to get out more.

I did a lot of reading and opted to not ask what the ''best metal detector'' is, instead I went on Kijiji (Canada's equivalent of Craig's List) and found a metal detector that might be worth starting out with. This particular one being a ''lightly used'' Delta 4000 from Teknetics. I did a search on the forum here and found that it seems to be a decent detector for us newbies. He wants $200 CAN for it and it comes with the 11'' DD coil along with the stock coil, which I understand should be a reasonable deal? I also believe it has the ''screw-in'' connector which is supposed to be one of the newer versions of this model.

My current goal would be to start out on beaches (dry sand mostly) and the woods near said beaches, just to see if I can dig up some interesting coins or buttons. If I get hooked on finding stuff, I'd happily dump some money into better gear and expeditions.

Just wanted to introduce myself either way so I can chime in and hopefully brag about my finds later on, while not giving away my locations, of course. ;)

Looking forward to reading more stories and seeing more finds, it's great inspiration.

welcome from MARYLAND DEE ! I started on beaches and think you have a great plan...sand is easier to dig while you learn the sport.

That'd be a sweet deal if I used American moola, unfortunately the exchange rate right now (and probably for awhile) is around 75/100 from Can/US.

I just got home from buying the Used (which basically looks brand new) Teknetic Delta 4000, it came with an instruction manual, headphones, a 5x10 ''double d'' coil, the stock coil, and a Garret camouflage satchel. I'm glad the instruction manual was included since it had the demonstration tutorial of each mode and it's functions in the front of the book. It really helped me understand how it works and what modes work best for each type of metal. I got a kick out of the ''all-metal'' mode, since it sounds more like ''all-dubstep'' mode. We had two large storms here on the East Coast of Canada in the past week so there wont be much room for detecting but I'll be sure to get out ASAP and do a field test with this machine, I'm excited. Tested it in an 11 liter plastic bucket with silica sand in it, using different coins, though the sand has been used and even after straining it still has flakes of metal from previous sandblasting uses.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, looking forward to being on this site!
