Hi everyone. I was referred to this site by a group I joined on Facebook. I found an arrowhead or spear head on our property last weekend. It was just laying on top of a dirt pile. Can you help identify it? I know absolutely nothing. Lol! It was found in Antrim county, Michigan.

Thank you in advance! I will do some exploring on this site. Maybe I’m overlooking other artifacts on our property.

Hello sister. Yes you're at the right place. I'd say you have a Raddatz which is 3,500-5,000 years old. Since the bow & arrow wasn't yet invented, I'd say it's a spear / dart point. Listen to what everyone else has to say about it and see what the consensus is. Congrats on a nice one--darn near flawless!

Edit: Almost forgot... WELCOME!

Cool material as well.....nice find!

Nice point looks like Nethers farm Flint ridge material from Ohio

A very nice relic. A good first find. Congratulations !

Nice artifact for sure. That is some wild looking material no doubts about it. Congrats!

That's a beauty. You rarely find such things in near perfect condition. Even the point looks sharp! Congratulations on a remarkable find.

We don't find such robust projectile specimens here in the Delaware River Valley. A corner notched, broad blade with bi-convex cross section and straight or excurvate sides.

Best regards,

JG

I was told by someone else that it’s made from Norwood Chert. Being a rock collector, I know there is a lot of chert in northern Michigan.

You might want to sift that dirt pile! Nice one and welcome aboard!

:hello: Welcome to tnet!

That’s a beauty. A complete point, meaning it’s whole. Tdog has pointed you in the right direction.

It’s hard to find even a broken point. And I agree with the others, that’s a very attractive material. Congratulations.
