Newbie question...

Hey everyone my name is Jared, I'll be buying my first metal detector here soon, I have decided on the Garret AT Pro for my first one. But I have a question, I know that I can go online and there is a thread on here to help you identify any coins you might find. but is there a website that is said to be "what everyone goes by" or a book to help me lookup any coins I find? maybe a book/website that also helps educate me on the US Coins, and is there a specific website that everyone uses to get pricing on what coins are currently worth?

Google and EBay are what I use to look up any coins I may want to know the value of. I'm not into collectible coins but the serious guys on here say dug coins aren't really that valuable. I dig a silver coin on occasion and that experience is worth a million dollars to me although the coin may only be worth less than $10.

A dug coin that is graded as to have Environmental Damage will only be worth about 10 % of the book value.
