Newbie visiting Denver 7-23...need a push in the right direction to hunt

Fellow diggers in CO...I am escaping the TX heat for a few days for a business meeting and am tagging on a day of hunting on 7-23. I have done a bit of research online and know that there are many areas I am allowed to hunt, but it's like trying to find a needle in a hay stack (which for us would probably not be that hard but you get the point). I am not asking for your top-secret #1 spot, but this is my first time to hunt outside of TX and the task of finding a decent spot is a bit overwhelming.

ANY info would be appreciated...

I am flying into DEN around 8 AM and just have the day to hunt.

When you say hunt do you mean metal detecting?
