Newbie from KY, I've had some experience from years ago, very young age, at metal detector. Haven't used one in years but have been thinking of getting back into it. I'd like suggestions and opinions on what brands/models are good to start out with. Mainly going to be using it on land but a waterproof coil for creek hunting would be nice as well.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg to start out just something that'll get the job done and get me started I can always upgrade later. Thanks for any input!

I'm a Garrett fan myself so if you can wait the Ace 400 is good at about the $400 price range or if you can spend more I don't think the AT pro is a bad purchase. But I almost recently picked up the Fisher F44 which is a good one for around 375

Good luck and learn whatever you get by many hours of practice

Welcome to Tnet! Tesoro Compadre is a very good entry level machine. Start of the art electronics in a budget minded package.
