Hi, I am new at this hobby and am ready to make my first metal detector purchase. I love watching the Digger's on T.V.. I live in Yucaipa, California, so I am surrounded by great areas to search. I have never used a metal detector before. Any suggestions on brand and model? It's all a little overwhelming. I was looking at Garrett AT PRO, but am not pleased with reviews. Please help. Thank you.

Your right about the AT Pro not being your best choice. I'd suggest Tesoro's Vaquero and the book. Amazon has the book.

Welcome, the AT Pro is a great detector for land and freshwater. Some areas with volcanic or black sand cause it to chatter a bit.
