Nice celt and few points

These 3 points were from a hunt on a new field Sun. the 10th. Not sure if the big notch on the blade was intentional, but it does look like it was used as a spokeshave.



This celt was found yesterday in my go-to field. I was heading out to do some scraping around because this field hasn't been worked yet, stopped right in front of the big oak to grab something out of my bag and while I was fumbling around spotted the side and part of the back end of the celt sticking out a little. Did a quick toe flick out of the dirt and was pretty shocked to see what popped out. Others and myself have probably walked over this thing 100 times in front of this oak tree.

Don't have insitu because I didn't know what it was before kicking it out, but this is right after picking it up





Found this small point not long after finding the celt.

I know this Capt. Redbeard guy. I've hunted with him. He can smell flint. Apparently he can now also smell hardstone tools. And those 100 trips past this beautiful celt? I own several of them.

Great finds!! I have always wanted to find stone artifacts. I have found a lot of copper ones from the Old Copper Culture Complex but no stone ones yet.

It looks like slate, but I haven't seen chunks of slate or slate artifacts, I don't have much geological knowledge. Honestly don't know what its made of.

That’s a nice looking Celt. It looks similar to some of the Hematite I’ve had the opportunity to handle. Does it feel heavy for its size?

yea its heavy, it may be slate from the looks of it.
