The sun was shining in Mi today.I headed out for a walk through the deep woods of the river bottom. As I crested one oak ridge, I found myself looking over a cove off of the river where probably a thousand geese had gathered in what was apparently the only open water for some distance.A gnarled old tree grew out of the shallow water on the edge of this goose haven, and perched on the highest limb was a beautiful bald eagle.I dont know if his interest was in the geese or the hopes of catching a fish in the shallows.I sat for some time beneath a tree watching, waiting for something to happen, and although the eagle never moved, something else caught my eye.Gliding in from my left, following the rivers course, came another large bird.I watched as it got closer and was suddenly overcome with awe.It was a golden eagle.....big as life. This bird passed not 100 ft in front of me in the full midday sun, leaving no question as to what it was.It glided beyond me and over the suddenly quiet and still flock of geese, and then beyond and out if sight. The bald eagle, which was dwarfed by its reddish brown kin, never moved.Ive never seen a golden up close and personal before. It was so cool, I thought I would share my story.I dont carry my camera with me , and for that I apologize.
.....anyway.....so, I was on my way home and stopped at the park where I had found the gold ring the other day.I had barely started swinging when the park ranger stopped to tell me she was closing the gates a little early today....bummer.
Total take in 20 mins.....12 pieces of garbage......5 pieces of clad......one old key....and these two beautys found about 10 foot from each other just under the grass roots. The first time I have found a matching pair. Not gold , but solid (not hollow)....925...........H.H. and best of luck to all......Joe
