Got out today. Gold Man sent me the Midwest Gold Prospecting book (Wich I am very grateful for thanks again). I sat here for hours yesterday and read it cover to cover. Great book. So with the new information in hand I decided to hit a spot that I never thought of as a good posibility. It has shallow beadrock Less than 2 feet and has lots of exposed. Also has a old dam way up the stream. I was digging out from behind the rock in the picture right down to the bedrock. It was only 22 degrees out so I told myself I was only going to run one full 5 gallon bucket. So I filled it to the top. It was very good looking material I ran it real slow through the sluice and when I panned it out was happy to see this nice flake in the pan there was also a good amount of black sand for New York (Not that I have been anywhere else to compare). It is visible with your eyes and even though I wouldnt call it a picker I was able to pick it up with my hands..I tried to scan it with my scanner it is bright but has a orange and yellow tint to it. Very pretty peice. My best by far.. I will have to go back and finish digging out behind that rock. I am very happy to have the piece. Fingers where burning from the cold but to me it was all worth it.
