According to this news story (2/24/15) you can make six (6) figures a year by just dumpster diving.

I can imagine the flood of folks getting flashlights ready to head out after this story.

Now just try to convince the folks to put down the remote and get up from the couch put some effort into that. Most would rather do the woe me story than go out to do a little diving at night. Heck if I was in need that would be right up there in ways to generate some cash flow.
 

around here most dumpsters are on private property where you can get arrested for trespassing.
 

I pull hundreds of pounds of aluminum out of my company's dumpster every year. Otherwise, it would just be incinerated.
 

Ya here the dumpster is supposed to be in a fenced area that can be locked and out of view.
It is amazing what people throw away!

You could also furnish a house with what falls off of cars headed to Cape Cod during the summer.
 

Yeah, and probably hepatitis, roaches, and bedbugs too. Have fun.
 

Thats what you find in the hood, not a dumpster.
