NJ Town Proposes Ban on Flying American Flag

Posted: Jan 18, 2013 8:24 AM EST Updated: Jan 18, 2013 9:04 AM EST

The Hudson County town of West New York is considering a widespread sign regulation that could include banning American flags from being flown.

The Board of Commissioners have a draft ordinance for "General Sign Regulations".

Among the prohibited signs under the proposal would be "Flags, banners and pennants."

This has opponents upset.

"What if I want to hang the American Flag? I can't," Frank Ferriero told politickerNJ. "Man, that's un-American."

The proposed ordinance was first read at a meeting on Wednesday. The final vote on the proposal will be held on Feb. 20 at a 7 p.m. meeting at the municipal building.

The ordinance would also ban signs affixed to the exterior of a window or glass, neon signs framing windows, and window and door signs that exceed 15% of the glass area.

Sounds like something New Jersey would do........they are leftist control freaks for the most part.

I think flying some toilet paper on the town hall might just be appropriate in this instance........

Hey, It's Joysie, a state so out of popularity that the Statue of Liberty even has her back turned to it.

I think everybody here should send them a hammer and sickle flag or a swastika flag for their town hall.

[h=2][/h]The proposed ban appears to be on advertising signs & flags

people are over analyzing the law they proposed
just to create controversy.

My guess even with the law in full swing,
not one attempt to pull an american flag by officials would have happened.

Yes they would have had their nascar & football psychos,
who can't watch & enjoy a game, without flying a flag to advertise who they are rooting for, complain (which is probably what this is really about)
but no cop or other official would ticket someone for a u.s. flag
they would need to start with the post office, police station, schools & the court house if they have one :laughing7:

Yes Jeff, but you would think that they would be more specific in the wording of that law, especially making exception for the American flag.

I have heard of other places making veterans take sown their flags especial especially apartment complexes, so not inconceivable a town in a liberal area would do same thing. Especially if someone complained and this law was on the books......
