No beginner's luck here!

I'm a newbie and my first post isn't very exciting. After lurking and reading for about 3 weeks, I decided to give CRH a try. My first,, $100...nada!

My second, $300...................nada! Both were Credit Unions.

Please tell me it will get better. Would it be more productive to order
some coins or should I just keep shopping and hope for the best?

Welcome aboard KS. Yes, it will get better. Hit the banks....all banks. Ask your bank if they can order a box for you. Don't give up....just keep plugging away. You will find silver. Keep posting and let us know how your doing. Good luck.

I use a credit union as a dump bank, never as a source. They don't seem to have a a good supply either.

I order 2 boxes a week from B of A and do OK. I also do some bank hunting on saturday mornings & try to buy another $400 - $500 in loose or rolled.

Of course it will get better, it can't get worse. I would think it would be better to order a box and see what happens. I'd continue hunting both by bank and box.

Best of luck

Hey Kickstart, I know I am new at this but I have a few suggestions. #1 You must go inside the bank, the drive-thru tellers are robots and don't know what is in the vault. If you ask inside they are always happy to ask the other tellers including the drive thru robots. Most tellers are taught to do one job and thinking is not one of them. #2 get out of town. If you live in a big city, hit the road and try the backroads. Big cities mean more competition from the rest of us on the forum. For every one who posts, there must be at least 20 lurkers who are searching without posting. #3 You have to help them with what you want. I ask them if they have any halves, big dollars or jokingly say"do you have anything you don't want to count anymore ?" Don't forget the 2 dollar bills.
KS, I know it sounds ridiculous but the nicer you are when you hit that first teller, the more luck you will have.
I also carry a nice shiny half dollar with me in case I am not being understood. They all seem to think the new dollars are halves and they gladly offer them to you. Good Luck, Jim

Keep at it, order a box and you'll score silver. Maybe the rolls you searched were already searched by another CRHer? Good luck.

When I picked up my coins from the Credit Union, they had black marks thru a previous account number. When I buy them or order
them, should I look for clean looking rolls or does it matter? By
the way thanks for the advice and encouragement.

No, its okay. The CU probably does that as a security measure. If the rims of the coins had black marks then I would worry. Were the wrappers different from each other or were they all the same?

When you order them they will come rolled in shotgun style wrappers.

Re: No beginner's luck here!

They were all the same except one.

Re: No beginner's luck here!

I would still try another time or two there, just in case you just happened to have a bad run. If it still ends up the same, your still a little ahead of the game as you know one place to not purchase them at anymore and you can use it as your dump bank, so that is still a little bit of positive in there.
