No idea what this is??

This was dug in late November of this year in a NJ field where a CW encampment was said to have been. Please help identify what it is.

Could you provide a pic with something like a quarter alongside it
for reference?

looks like a the top piece of a hasp that is used to lock a box or something ornate. It would fold down over the part that the lock goes through.

depending upon its size --it might be part of a suspender clip -- or a box top clasp -- the pin part was to allow for movement ..so clearly it moved some how , for some reason ..... it might be part of a book hasp /closure ...
