It just has the number 52. No holes in it and blank on the other side. Any ideas? :-\

It's a 52 cent piece. ;D

Seriously, can you tell how the numbers may have been put there? It doesn't look like they were struck by a die or a punch. It they were, there would be some metal pushed up a bit when it pushed in and maybe even be pushed through so they were visible on the back.. Can you look with a loupe and see if they look engraved? There would be some tiny marks where a tool was used to remove the metal. Maybe that will give us some more information.

Strange item. The numbers don't seem to "match." There is no hole to hang it for a tag.

Can you weigh it? Maybe it's some sort of calibration weight.

How about the size? Any relationship there?

????

Can't see the numbers on the back. I don't have a scale to weigh it. :(
Its very light. The style of the two numbers are the same, but different in size. I found it in an old pear farm.

It looks alot like the tool tags that my father used at one of his jobs minus the hole though. Usually they would have a hole to hang them in place. Interesting

Obviously a marker to show that the deck of cards had been counted...

Otherwise, the dealer wasn't playing with a full deck!!! :laughing7:

5.2 grams?
:dontknow:

Was the pear farm large enough to hire pickers at harvest time? It may be a token given to a picker each time they turned in a basket/box/peck(?) of pears. Then at the end of the day they'd be paid for each token. The tokens had to be marked in such a way that they couldn't be easily duplicated.
