I've inherited some tools and bits and pieces (from a former machinist and gun collector) and am hoping to get some ideas as to what some of the items may be. Thanks for any help you can give! This piece is 2 1/2" in length.

Well sir, some of what you are calling junk may have a value of several hundred dollars. Until those items are properly identified by the talented folks that are members here we have to put those items it the "properly identified column". So the "crap" phrase may very well be associated with some members.
