I don't know my tools at all but this item seems like a socket - but what's with the hole on one end of it? It measures 6". Thanks for any input.

There were farm equipment accessory kits with 3/8 intensions that had a hole for a short rod instead of a ratchet end.

It just looks like a socket extension to me. Missing the little ball at the end (would be.in that hole, probably one on either side.
