Left the frozen wasteland of Summit County, drove through a blizzard on Fremont Pass, headed south to Brown's Canyon on the Arkansas and found out the stories traveller's tell are true. Only snow was in the shade and on the mountain tops, where it belongs. 60 in the day and 19 at night. Had the whole campground at Hecla Junction to myself and slept on the ground under the stars. Folks, this is the most open ground I've seen in almost 4 months so I spent the whole day hikin along the river. Great place if y'all ever get up here.

Surely that is not Colorado

I love that river! Many artifacts can be found along it. I'll bet it was a fine day in the Banana Belt.

Well mamabear not the part of Colorado I live in, but yeah, Chaffee County, Colorado, south of Buena Vista along the Arkansas River. The Collegiate Range is in the third pic. I like this part of the country cause it reminds me a lot of the Wichita's in Oklahoma. Very similar geology, but the Wichita's are older than the Rockies.
