Even "my" new techniques are no guarantee. ;) LOL

But, even though the finds were pretty skimpy, I was STILL able to get out,
to dig, and have a nice pleasant walk. So, I'm still a winner:

I thought this was just a bottle cap until I rinsed it off.

2016 (49).webp

I think it was part of a watch. If you look real
close, you can see it's stamped plated silver. :)

2016 (52).webp
This looks like it was a pin once.

2016 (53).webp
It is stamped with a number though. :dontknow:

Not sure about this either. Maybe once part of a bracelet?
Wonder who Maron was?

2016 (55).webp

Just a '61 penny. BUT! It was found HERE! At the mansion!
THAT! Is a good exit find! LOL

Thanks for peeking!

WHADIFIND,

Nice mix of finds.....the clip is probably from a garter belt.

Probably a piece is missing....someone posted a similar one on the Canadian forum and there was another piece attached.

Any guess would be better than mine! LOL I was just thinking that this appeared to have a pin mounting and the hook is similar to one I have on a medal I found. Sort of where the ribbon went.

Does seem a bit fragile though, probably is a garter fastener.

I like the " no technique " I tend to do better if I don't think to much. Lol. Dig when the urge hits ya, and a nice walk. Good hunt.

Congrats on getting out. I went last Thursday and the ground was frozen only 2 inches deep, but after the heavy rains here since and the freezing temps, I bet I am done till March now.

But, ya see, you just described my new technique! ;) LOL

Thanks!

Possibly. Maybe the woods? Or a cornfield?

Time to do the research. :)

That is a great hunt, Whadi, lots of interesting relics that are very old. I must break my slump but it seems the precipitation gods want to punish me every weekend when I want to hunt my schools. Maybe this weekend? Keep having fun as long as you can! Sub 8-)

Not too shabby, I'm digging the clip, (pun intended), lol!

Good for you being able to get out

Old Dude,

Another chap I know calls that the drunken sailor grid....lol.

WHADIFIND,

If you're trying a new site try the Union Jack method......basically do an X across the site and along the 4 sides.

That give you a good cross section of hits and help you find any hot spots where the targets are plentiful to concentrate on.

Bill

I am certain your new technique is better than what you used to do, and I'd continue. You have hit that mansion so many times that you are at the point of diminishing returns. You can only dig relics, if indeed there are any left in the ground. You did pull some cool pieces though.

Thanks Bill, but I after two years of hunting this place, I can hardly call any of it a "new site". Maybe, a new "subdivision". ;)

I used to just plain wander and let the chips fall where they may. (The blind squirrel method ;) ) But, recently I made some changes to
that concept and I'm now listening to the detector in a new way. But, first of all, the day before, I ask the Lord where HE would want me to try.
Then, once there, I still try to stay out of HIS way in my paths but, instead of just blowing through after finding something he gives me a fairly
obvious signal on. Oh, I'd do a little circle around the find, but pretty much just kept wandering. Now, I drop into something that is just short of gridding.
Unless, it's a VERY good find! Then, I search every square inch for quite a while.

Those techniques alone have been working pretty well recently. But, one thing that is causing me to find all these wonderful targets is this new method I'm using to "hear" what the detector is telling me. I doubt if I can even put it into words. It's sort of hearing in-between the "bad" signals. Some of these finds were in with much iron, some above the target, some below, some just alongside. I feel I'm interpreting the "machine gun" better. If that helps.

Yep, LD, this place is very well worn now. (AND...I have evidence that the place wasn't exactly virgin when I got there!) Still, there are patches of ground there that haven't even seen my coil yet. Hard to believe, I know. What's fun for me is to start on a new subdivision knowing the potential of this place! I've found everything from modern to colonial! Maybe even before. No matter what, it is my most happy place to be. So, I don't "have" to find anything. :)

Thanks!

Nice bunch of finds! Congrats!
Your adjustments are working!
Some Nuance sounds to detect by!

I think your watch back has been claimed....

With all you have been finding there, the ground seems to be growing those finds for Ya!

We now have cold, frozen, white, crystallized "stuff" on the ground...Sunday is not looking good either, but I did find. $4.55 in clad in our defunct dryer....with out my detector :sly:

THINK BLINGIE AND FISHEY ARE A LITTLE CONFUSED FROM THIS HUNT . NICE SUSPENDER CLASP ...
