For me it’s been with coil on the ground where you hunt.
The book says 12” off the ground, so I guess what ever works for you

You might want to try something different - run Auto NC and try it out. Then put it in manual NC and play around with the value as you sweep the detector. With my CTX some NC settings gave me an after sweep beep and I could reduce this by another NC setting. It seemed a bit similar to the Equinox recovery speed setting. NC is supposed to reduce interference but everyone thinks it is like a secondary sensitivity tweak - which it isn’t. I would think that if you don’t hear interference you don’t have any....

Yeah I've read lots of posts about noise canceling the ctx and everyone seems to have different opinions on the matter...

Agree with jdiggs…. you will hear a ton of opinions. I use an E-TRAC and I noise cancel with the coil on the ground because the intent is to cancel out emi from where ever the source is. It can be coming from above ground or below ground or both and since I detect with the coil on the ground, that's why I do it that way. Keep in mind, it's always a good idea to perform a noise cancel every so often as you cover more ground.

Yeah I will be testing out the differmet methods . I'm new to the ctx so i will be watching what people have to say about noise canceling... there's a ton of different opinions on the matter... so far I've been just noise canceling on the ground...

I wonder if there's a difference on vdi numbers when noise canceling is done different ways?

Noise cancel adjusts the frequency a tiny bit but not enough to be significant or affect VDI numbers.
