remember the term "barcolonga" * used in the oct 24th of 1715 * letter from the govenor of virginia (alexander spotswood) to the british home sec. (lstanhope) in which spotswood is basically asking stanhope to ask the king of england for the royal "ok" to loot the spanish wrecksite in nassau sound ?

in spotswoods letter it clearly details everything about the wreck in nassau sound ( florida) between Amelia Island and Talbot island --it tells the type of vesselit was --a barcolonga * where the vessel was from (sent from havana , cuba * after the 1715 fleet had wrecked)- what its mission was --sent to the 1715 fleet wrecksites on the florida coast to rescue VIPS and important treasure items* and that after getting the people and goods that it wrecked about 40 miles to the north of St Augustine (exactly where nassau sound is located)-- picking up items from the 1715 fleet explains why 1715 era fleet wreckage items where found in nassau sound --it was cargo from the 1715 fleet that was onboard the rescue and recovery barcolonga vessel when she wrecked.

thus the nassau sound wreck was not one of the "missing original 1715 fleet vessels" as some have thought, but as a high dollar value "recovery vessel" it can still be a highly worthwhle prize if the state will ever get over the "aquatic preserve" BS in nassau sound (a well known hiistorically highly unstable and shifting sand area up. ) why its listed as a" aquatic preserve area" only god knows.
