Was detecting along a fieldstone wall in the woods that turned out to be the border for an old dumping ground chock full of barbed wire nails and such but stumbled on a whale vertebra .

WOW! What a neat find! I wonder if it was an old shipbuilder or cargo transport area for the shipping industry. That was HUGE along the North River in the late 19th century.
