We hit the beach today in hopes of finding some silver that two Vermont Hunters may have missed. The Parks Department dug out and piled up sand on the beach to form 6 small mountains. These mountains are part of an obstacle course that the participants in the Plattsburgh Iron Man Run, Swim , and Bicycle Triathlon. I spoke with one the 2 Vermont hunters yesterday. He showed me 2 silver dimes that he dug out of the pits that were bulldozed to create these mini-mountains. I scoured the pits yesterday with my DEUS and that resulted in a silver ring that I previously posted. Today, I was equipped with the Excalibur.
I investigated a strange signal. It turned out to be a black nickel. Most nickels I have found with the Excalibur do not sound like this one. I immediately started to rub the area above Monticello's dome. Sure enough, an "S". I turned it over and rubbed the date area to reveal a 1945. I have gotten V nickels and Buffalos on the beach before but this is my first "beach recovered" war nickel.
