Riding around looking for a set of old doors for a job today, I saw this guy in the street. It was dangerously close to getting run over, so I'm glad we saw it when we did. It's a young Yellow crested Night Heron, it's injured but not seriously and was a little weak when I picked it up. On the ride to Audobon Zoo it perked up though and I'm guessing "ACK!!" meant it wasn't too happy about the car ride. The zoos veterinarian said they'll get it rehabilitated and probably release it on the grounds there when it's ready to go. It might not be silver or gold, but it was my good deed for the dat and I'm pretty happy about it.

Karma will hopefully pay you back for the good deed.

You are younger than I imagined too.

Excellent recovery! Maybe he will show you a few old cellar holes for your kindness! :icon_thumleft:

Awesome...find!?...lol...what a great deed! May the silver Gods bless you with an unending streak of old silvers! ....sprinkled with some gold, of course...As an animal lover myself, kudos to you...ddf

Might lay the golden egg for you. That's awesome

Awesome Ken! We are charged with dominion over all creatures. Dominion includes the responsibility of helping and caring for them. Great story! Sub 8-)

Great save. I'm one of those people who pulls the car off the side of the road to move a turtle off the road. Always move a turtle in the direction he/she is going. They are going that direction for a reason.

Great act of kindness! The bird I rescued was a gull who was on my apartment balcony struggling to leave and in extreme distress and fear due to an apparent wounded wing. Captured it in an upside-down clothes basket then took it to my apt and drapped a sheet over it to reduce stress (still was enough to poop all in the basket), then called the SPCA, who were here in 30 minutes bringing a safe box to transfer. And in Cali there are millions of gulls, but every animal is unique and suffering animals should be aided. Don't know whether it survived later, but I sure hope it did.

A lot of birds like crows and blue jaws and mockingbirds can also recognize individual humans! This bird might remember you as the kind human who saved it throughout its lifetime. Hope it eventually sees you again, it's good buddy.

Well done, sir!

Great deed. Good karma as CTom said. It's good to put a face to a name. Cheers and good luck

Now that should be an Honorable mention, life is a treasure and you saved that life!

Kudos to you and thanks for taking the time to do the right thing, I nominate for "Honorable Mention"
