Yes, it was found in a park on Parris Island, but the school is in Savannah GA.Great find. Is it a high school ring?
1996That's a super nice ring. Congrats to you. Does it have a date on it? Can't quite tell from the pics.
I've thought about it, the name is in cursive and is hard to read, but the high school is "SOL JOHNSON" High school in Savannah Georgia last name appears to be Spann but can't tell what the first name isCongratulations on the ring.
It looks like the ring is engraved on the inside.
Have you any thoughts on doing a return?
Your eyes are good. The last name is Spann, and the first name is indeed Desiree. (In addition to the engraving, it's also on the side of the ring). There was a Desiree Spann who graduated Johnson High School in Savannah Georgia in 1996. She is on supposedly on classmates.com here.Savannah Georgia last name appears to be Spann but can't tell what the first name is
first name may be Desireé but can't tell
Ask her if there is a reward 🤣 Just joking of course, but just curious of what others do when they find something and reach out, do you ask if there is a reward, do you accept if one is offered ? Or do you just take a happy video to post online after the fact ?Your eyes are good. The last name is Spann, and the first name is indeed Desiree. Myself, I have found about five wedding rings for People that have lost them and I didn’t charge a thing. I didn’t have to travel far and found them all fairly quickly too. I just did it for the quest, but nowadays gas isn’t exactly cheap.Ask her if there is a reward 🤣 Just joking of course, but just curious of what others do when they find something and reach out, do you ask if there is a reward, do you accept if one is offered ? There is no shame in any answer of course, we all know this hobby is expensive...
P.S. I have never done anything one way or another so I'm just wonder what others have done ?
If someone was to hire a detectorist to help them find something they would certainly expect to pay $$$ for the service.
Class Rings are really RARE, in 30 years I've probably dug 100 rings, but only 3-4 class ringsMyself, I have found about five wedding rings for People that have lost them and I didn’t charge a thing. You will get people that WILL offer to pay you something for returning it though.
Great find BTW. I don’t remember if I’ve ever found a class ring?
Congrats

We have three high schools in town, but the sports fields are kept so nice I'm afraid I would get booted.Class Rings are really RARE, in 30 years I've probably dug 100 rings, but only 3-4 class rings![]()
Thinking back there is a funny story about that ... no class ring though... Me and my partner found a football field ast a highschool near here where we could get past the fence and the gate was open, (for runners-walkers etc...) and we went and hunted the field, Nice clean and green, ... Sooo we cut some nice plugs and when we were done you cold not see anything .. right ?? Lucky for us there were not too many hole dug, but probably 20-30..We have three high schools in town, but the sports fields are kept so nice I'm afraid I would get booted.
Here is a tip... GET A GOOD PINPOINTER, Learn to use a screwdriver to locate and pop out targets that are not very deep, When you get a good target, use the pinpointer to locate exactly where it is and the screwdriver to locate in the ground, you can feel it and once you know what your doing, you can tell the difference between metal and rocks, pop it out or round the hole and use your finger to get the target out...We have three high schools in town, but the sports fields are kept so nice I'm afraid I would get booted.
You probably won't be able to find chains with a screwdriver, but you should have no problem with coins, rings, pull tabs, or bigger trash.. with a little practice.. AND these holes are so small they are unnoticeable and look like cleat holes..Here is a tip... If you make a three sided or V shaped trap door plug, the plug won't die on you since some of the grass is still attached to the surrounding turf. If the ground is soft enough, you can even cut a slit and spread it apart to retrieve the target instead of actually cutting a plug.Thinking back there is a funny story about that ... no class ring though... Next week we came back, because it was nice and not much trash and easy digging... and what did we see...😳
The field looked like it had Chicken Pox, .... HA HA HA where we had dug the plugs they had turned brown...
Needless to say we did not go back... 🤣🤣🤣
But This was 10 years ago, and we have been back a few times, the grass grew back and no harm was done in the telling of this story.🤣
I've made about 300 returns. I leave any reward up to them. If they call me for help and I have to make a special trip to search, I like to at least get my costs covered, but, I don't insist on it. The generous people more than make up for the ones who just give you a "thanks".....or not.Ask her if there is a reward 🤣 Just joking of course, but just curious of what others do when they find something and reach out, do you ask if there is a reward, do you accept if one is offered ?
