I went for a hunt on the field i started last week. Today on a part away from the plundered roman site. Not much to show, some lead, pottery, usual driving bands, very little other finds, some buttons, only one (prussian) coin, buckle... But when i bend down to pick up a musket ball i saw it right in front of me. I knew immediatly what it was. The front part of a beautiful polished neolithic axe. :hello2: It is broken, that happens on plowed fields... :BangHead: complete ones are VERY rare to find. Definetely the best find for 2012 so far! It is the third neolithic artefact from this field and i hope for some more.

Fantastic saves. 3000BC yea you have me beat.

Keep lookin Lu. Maybe you can find the other half and super glue it back together. You must be in a good spot if you're finding driving rings again. Good luck.

Hi Tim! Yes, it's a better place there. Close to a small village, too dangerous for nighthawks. Our farmers use their shotguns too! :tongue3: Finding the other part would be a time consuming issue.... i'll try when retired!

Thank You! It's not my oldest stone age find, but a polished one like this was on the wishlist for a long time!

I've never had even a broken one :headbang: :icon_thumright:

That is a beautiful stone axe head, a big congrats!!! You made some nice metal finds as well. The 4th picture down, relic far left, I have been digging several pieces like that here on the gold coin field. HH and get out there, now is the best time to detect, Mike

Hi Mike! First guess was some kind of shoe buckle, but it has a hook inside. Nice design with flowers. And congrats on Your Banner! :icon_thumleft:
