Metal Detecting
Hello all!
New to the forum, but not new by any means to old crusty things and metal detecting. I dug this item metal detecting today in an old farm field. There are house sites on either end of the field (1/4 mile) that were most likely torn down in the 1940s on one side and mid 1960s on the other end. I am not sure yet when they were first built. I found this right near the middle between them, far away from either. The small valley was settled in the 1840s. I am normally fairly good at identifying the things i dig, but i am stumped! It appears that it is a stand alone object that does not attach to anything, and is not broken off of anything. Any help is appreciated!
