My most interesting finds r not usually on my bucket list because until i find them , i didn't know they exist :)
However i only have one item on my bucket list , Roman gold coin and i am pretty much determine to find it this this year.
Let's go back to my oldest find now.
I was invited with some locals to go to treasure hunt. Treasure hunt in my country usually means searching for gold cache so i didn't ask to many questions i just let locals to guide me. When we arrived at location i was skeptic since they expect from me to search devastated tumulus(iron age grave made under pile of rocks.
Personally i don't like to search graves and i don't approve that kind of activity but since i was already there and tumulus was crashed in gravel i didn't want to make bad first impression with locals I turn off my Deus and start searching. We have already search 3 devastated burial mounds without any serious success, lots of bullets from 1st and 2nd WW and some coins from 30' . We were searching tumulus no 4 when i get ordinary signal like bullet shell . On my huge surprise small brass vase show up 20cm under rocks. This vase was grave offering but exact purpose of vase is still little bit a mystery for me . so far there is two explanation of it. Most probably it is belt pedant from 6. century BC, originating from central Balkan and belonging to Glasinac iron age culture, second less probable explanation is that vase is lachrymarium , small vessel for collecting tears during funeral which latter will be put like grave offer.
Anyway it will find way to local museum since they don't have similar finds up to date in that country. We then moved to search some roman location , unknown to me .Actually i was searching that filed in summer totally unaware that is roman sight even it was looking promising and didn't have any significant finds but now couple of roman coins show up and this broken fibula as well . The coin is Constantin the Great bilion silver folis 323. AD
So this is my oldest find so far and it will not bee easy to beat it soon .If anyone have some more idea about purpose of vase please be free to expose it. ^5DA56C5CBF717F332C937445F03A08A7039A81A44C3F763706^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^1260ECDCE0DFEFE2AA89D64E7A58223E9686887907589FB1CC^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^FD9FA506501C646FD8ACCFAFD369BA28F161A1DD6637945D45^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^3D0C35B09E34307EE865D67E81FE58544586BDF816766501D7^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^4046C697BC34446BCFE0D792E8F62185E2CC174561E4624BA3^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^F3C99FC0B41DA18610216875C80D0FFAA7C53F9C9830E275A4^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^0454E23EC93F5649CF6AE4DDE3C1C7CEBC883F206682A1F3C7^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg ^C5B7D813DDD52FEF4C2B4350E8BE4DF001D868B1F6B5F01D3E^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg
