I think it is a very old ford motor company engine badge.
sounds possible
Yes, this should be moved to the 'What is It' category.
Well I guess everything is possible. The 'o' is surprising, I saw it too and wondered why no one mentioned it. I think it is a small o, thus from the front to the back 'FMCo'
Now about Ford. Two reasons I don't think it's a Ford logo emblem.
Ford had from the beginning everything simple and plain. Nothing fancy, just like the car, plain, simple and no luxury items at all. Just a car and a name. So I do not think he made such an emblem logo. BTW I think a medallion is either a object with no holes, or one hole which would be worn on a necklace, or as an emblem or jewelry. Better might be emblem logo or something like that.
The second reason is that on the ranch where I grew up we have several old Ford model T's, they were from 1910 or earlier. Well they were still there in 1947 when I was a kid (but not used anymore) and we were allowed to play with them and take them apart, and we did just that, it was a lot of fun. One even ran before we got our hands on it, I got to ride in it several times with my Grandpa. They were not used anymore, there were better trucks and cars on the ranch. The only 'emblem/nameplates' that I saw were with very plain Ford names. (after we were finished with the cars they were dumped in a ravine near our ranch where we dumped all of our trash). I think on those cars, if Ford had used such an emblem on his earlier auto's I should have seen them.
The 'F' in the object is totally different than in this object, and has never been used by Ford (as far as I know). Also the 'M' is very special, with a loop between the two poles of the M. Ford used in the being a plain FORD, later in the 1910's he changed it to a flowing F, and so it has remained.
What do I think it is then? Well I am not sure. Surely costly to make, so it would have to be put on something that would also be costly. It does not appear too thick and is not large enough for say a Locomotive or something like that. Maybe a engine or some type of motor..... Maybe a search on the net with these initials and Missouri could turn up something.
