After me and my wife being gone most of Friday and half of Saturday it was time to get the dogs out for a walk on this very nice brisk morning. We went to this open space park near by. It was a nice little hike for everyone. Ollie spotted a coyote, I spotted and eagle and Bella discovered a hole with baby field mice coming out of it. She wanted to kill them all, but I wouldn't let her.

As always, gorgeous pics...:occasion14:

You notice how that coyote is hairing-up? That's some serious
fur he's growing..see the same thing going on with the 'coons
around here.

Gonna be a cold, long winter..

Well if it's a lucky yote it won't be infected with the mange. I've seen around 4 infected coyote within a year with mange. Could be why it seems I'm seeing less of them around. I can't see them survive the cold without much hair.

What's the yote population in your parts?

Not actually sure, but their howling away about every night this time of the year. Some years you see more than others.

Looks like a great walk! Coyotes are doing well here in SC. We see them right here in town, they have trotted down the street in front of our house. I keep hoping they'll eat these cats that keep crapping in my yard. Sorry cat lovers, but these felines gotta go.

Yeah there's no shortage of them. They blend in their terrain so well you might not notice they're near by. This one was pretty close to the trail and I didn't see it until Ollie stopped to bark at it. Took me a few seconds to see what he barking at. I only got this one shot as I had a little problem spotting it for a steady shot in the view finder for anymore pictures, before it trotted off. They don't like being noticed.

Nice photo's. :icon_thumright:
