I dug this bracelet up at an old farmhouse yesterday and was wondering:
1) what these numbers were for?
2) why the "4's" would be engraved sideways?
As you can see, it says "Ralph Boyd Smith - 34678480" and "Love Elva" on the back.
I was thinking that the sideways "4's" may be meant as the "&" symbol.
Info:
Ralph Boyd Smith was born on 8/15/1914 in Wake County, NC. and died on 10/21/1987.
His wife Elva was born in 1922 and died in 1973.
The numbers on the bracelet are still puzzling.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
