Hello fellow gold diggers. I am from tennesse and planning on joining a club that uses metal detectors. I have not found a detector yet, but I am still searching for one. I have always wanted to explore this field. No punt intended. The idea of going up to someone to ask permission to search their property kind of got me thinking. How do u do this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to reading the forum.

Welcome to the forum from Niagara Falls.

Never tell a prospect you're detecting for money. Relics would be better. Always ask then along. Always offer to share finds. Remind them that you take the trash with you. Offer to cut their grass(optional). Never take the machine to the door with you. Stay cool. Ask the history of the property. Get them involved. Learn to except rejection. It happens to everyone. Lots of luck.

Welcome to TNet. You might want to try using dowsing rods to find that metal detector you're looking for.:laughing7:

Thank u for the warm welcome. Thank rook4343 for the information. I see we have others member that watch Oak island curse.

Yep, pretty sure folks watch it to make fun of it.

I mean have you ever seen anyone else hold the Metal Detector by the coil when hunting.

just to think how much of the money came out of these guys pocket doing this dig. VPNAVY I am going out to see the Tennessee map. I have found a club in Germantown. More info is awesome. Thanks for pointing this out.

Welcome to TNet...!
Looking for a reasonable-priced machine, there are many, just choose something in the mid-line
machine, for starters. Learn it well, and guess what you have, before digging it up. Practice no-trace
digging, take the trash you dig, answer questions from any curious passer-bys, that you are new to
the hobby, but be honest, friendly - be yourself...!

Welcome to the forum! :occasion14:

Howdy! Oak Island's Gary got me too. Check out Aussie Gold Hunters as well. Less relic but more GOLD!

When it comes to door knocking, it might be hard at first but do your research and then knock. Tell them you have a hobby in detecting and that you would like to search their property. Most people are thrilled to have you. There are some who will shut the door on you. It gets easier with time.

Welcome to tnet from Mi Tommy

Welcome to the Tnet and Merry Christmas from middle Georgia! Take the time here to read a lot of posts in the manufacturers section on different models and ask lots of questions. Scour Craigslist for a machine since used ones can cost a lot less and give you more for the other necessities like a quality pinppointer. Hope to hear great tales from you in the spring or as weather permits. Again, welcome and best wishes for 2019 and beyond...
