One thing that has helped me is that I have a business card I offer them with my contact info on it. If it's an area where I have hunted on someone else's property, I mention that person by name as a reference. I emphasize that I will respect and restore where I dig and bring everything to them after I finish so they can see what I found. Most folks let me keep any coins when they see all the junk I pulled up along the way.
