I got out digging with Iron Patch and made a few decent finds. We started in a good old area that hasn't disappointed in the past; we soon found a new little site that gave up a few finds.
Amid the buttons, I got a navy masters button, a little crusty but I'll take it!
Coins included a cartwheel penny and a Hibernia 1805 halfpenny and a seventy year old ten cents at a two hundred year old site, oh well, still my first silver of the year!
A few other odds and ends at the end of the day made for decent hunt!

Looks like a great location, that's a lot of buttons. I like the navy button, I'm guessing 1812 era?

Now that's some serious booty there matey. Wonderful old coins, buttons, and relics. Looks like you are onto the sweet stuff on that sight. Plunder away. :blackbeard:

for sure it's in that timeframe, first quarter of the century at least
the back is good, if that's any consolation but I'm going to go out and look for another just to be sure

the coppers were pretty much toast
but who's to say there isn't a good one hiding

I'll return on another voyage next year

Congrats on a nice bunch of finds and good luck

Plenty of targets! And the button was definitely the winner.

1825-1827

Nice hunt and yes that button is awesome

I thought it was a bit after the war, but wasn't exactly sure; that's why I opened it up by a few more years and just made it

Now paying a little more attention to Royal Navy buttons there is some obvious differences between the early and later issues. For the masters the simple rules are... rope around the anchor 1805-1812.... crown at the top (no rope) 1812-1825... no rope 1825-1827. Mine is the 1805-1812 which I am happy about, but only having one means I need to find two more!

Yeap, the Masters buttons don't show very often.

Purser is a little more scarce, but flag officer is rare, and the big one... Admiral... very rare.

Nice set of digs bud. That Master's button is outstanding and a rare find. I wish that they still made buttons like that for us ship masters.

Good show!

I believe you found a tailors shop location with that many buttons, great day for sure!
