Thanks for the great replies I re-attached the fastener onto the back of the pin. I used electrolysis on both objects beforehand then cranked my solder station all the way up, a dab of flux and the old silver solder already on the piece took a good hold. I gave it another electrolysis bath and a final cleaning with some baking soda.
