Odd ball

I'll just cut to the chase, I found this 1.25" metal ball (probably brass) in the yard of a very old house today. It has a green tarnish and doesn't stick to a magnet. It is heavy like it's solid. When I dug it I just knew it was a ball from a canister shot but I'm pretty sure those were iron.
