Odd design on silver plate???

Item appears to be silver plated. There are no markings on the back that I can tell. Item is about 4in X 3in. If one looks at it in the right way it looks like it could be an "A" and a "Z". Any ideas out there. Another puzzling thing is the notch that is cut out of the one corner. My best guess, although more than likely incorrect, is that it was part of a cigarette holder :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:

Just realized that upside down would be "Y" and "Z":happysmiley:

i think it says H Z A,the banner type ends, run through the H, and make the bar of the A

Most likely this is a practice piece of someone learning how to engrave - perhaps an apprentice engraver - nice engraving skill shown.

I would use a piece of scrap material when I was learning to engrave - similar to what you found.
